Hello! I sort of closed the Substack down for Christmas so this is awkward, but I have two things I wanted to share in case they’re of interest!
SEVENOAKS BOOKSHOP SIGNING!
In January we release the paperback edition of BVM Bunny Bonanza, and to celebrate I’m heading back to Sevenoaks Bookshop (who are LOVELY) on the 18th January to do a signing!
Tickets are available here https://sevenoaksbookshop.co.uk/book-signing-with-jamie-smart-2/ so if you’re nearby do come and say hello. Also what I really like is they release tickets for specific timeslots, not just the whole thing, which means the queue is never too long a wait.
ALSO!
LINCOLN EVENT WITH NEILL CAMERON!
Three worlds are colliding in February - The Phoenix are launching their own dedicated comics imprint (yay!), the Waterstones Children’s Book Festival is happening (yay!), and because of both things, myself and the master comickeer (sic) Neill Cameron are doing a special one-off live event in Lincoln on 15th Feb!
Myself and Neill have done a few events like this in the past and they’re always ridiculously fun, and usually descend into chaos. We stand on stage trying to draw live comics while taking suggestions from the (also drawing) audience, all of us combining our efforts to form some kind of farting comics monstrosity.
If you want to come along there are tickets available HERE: https://www.waterstones.com/events/phoenix-comic-books-launch-featuring-jamie-smart-and-neill-cameron-at-the-waterstones-childrens-book-festival/lincoln-high-st
(Incidentally, we’re looking at trying to set up a signing around Nottingham on the Sunday too, but haven’t quite confirmed yet. I’ll let you know when we do)
Before I end this, it occurs to me maybe I should be promoting my books for Christmas too? Well there are now TEN Bunny Vs Monkey books (and a joke book!), THREE Looshkin books, and FOUR Max And Chaffy books. Just in case you’re looking for the perfect gifts for *insert name of someone who loves comics, or equally doesn’t know what comics are, or just someone you’ve run out of ideas for and hey maybe they’d like a comic that’s a leftfield idea right?* Comics. COMICS!
Anyway that’s my advertising done. It’s very early in the morning and I’m about to have a mince pie for breakfast. If we don’t speak again please have a fun and restful festive season, and I’ll be back in January with some pretty flipping exciting news.
Bye!
Jamie
